Work.Life
Work has consumed a big part of my life. When you get into a role that requires: (1) twelve hours a day, (2) travelling every Friday-Sunday night and (3) doing the Chartered Accountants Program, work-life balance becomes just another slogan.

"While I fully agree accountants are in a better position than IT specialists to provide useful management information, I can think of a few issues with that positioning, though: • Old-school finance people might see you too much like an IT resource • IT will most definitely see you as competition".

Friday.Routine
Friday is the hamster-wheel routine of beating the traffic to reach the airport one hour before departure. The airline business lounge serves decent Wontons but my favourite is still the Century Egg Porridge that they serve in Singapore’s airport. What better way to whittle away the time than to read the Friday edition of Australian Financial Review.

People.Government
To most of the disadvantaged in society, there’s no such thing as a ‘Good’ government. With a two-party system, one can at the very least hope for a ‘Fair’ government.

Cross.Roads
A wide range of sectors on an international scale coupled with the demands of a client-facing role means frequent air travel. Showers and meals at business-class airline lounges may sound jet-setter like glamorous, but air travel these days are so very common. I am beginning to recognise some of the familiar faces on my weekend flights back home.

Sydney.Aquarium
A visit to the aquarium can be a rather therapeutic experience. Perhaps this is why the aquarium is within walking distance from our stock exchange.

Recruiting.Season
The recruiting season in Sydney gets into full swing between March and April. Organisations from Singapore, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore, will be participating in the universities’ career fairs. Several companies are from the Fortune Global 500.
